Día 1: Saliendo de St. Jean Pied de Port

¡Adiós, St. Jean!

Nos ha gustado mucho el día y medio que paramos en St. Jean. Nos despedimos de Joseph, nuestro hospitalero en Beilari. Es un hombre super-simpático y es un dueño fenomenal del albergue.

Nos paramos en la oficina de peregrinos para pesar nuestras mochilas. ¡No queremos ver cuánto pesan! Nos fuimos de esta aldea preciosa y empezamos a subir hasta nuestro próximo albergue en Orisson, unos 8 kilómetros distante de St. Jean. Hicimos reservas de antemano en Orisson, también.

Nuestra Llegada a St. Jean Pied de Port

¡Por fin estamos! Después de unos días en Paris tomamos tres trenes differentes para llegar a St. Jean. Afortunadamente, hicimos nuestras reservas para este albergue que tiene una may buena reputation. Pasamos dos noches en St. Jean para conocer bien el pueblo.

Visitamos este pueblo bonito, incluso la oficina de Prergrinos oficial. Obtuvimos nuestros credenciales(pasaportes) de peregrino aquí y ellos nos dieron mucha buena información. También, visitamos unos cafés y una tienda de especies (spices).

Leaving on the Camino from Paris: Bon Chemin!!

Bon jour!

Here is the small amount of info that I could find for our French teachers and their students in Paris last month. 

It is said that there were/are two departure points for the Camino in Paris. One was originally from the church Saint Jacques-de-la-Boucherie (see link to an interactive visit of this tower on a previous blog entry). 

The other is from the left-most door of the Cathedral of Notre Dame as you look from the front of the cathedral. We were told that somewhere above that door was a scallop she'll carved in stone, but as hard as we looked we could not find it. We did, however, manage to get our first Camino stamp from the people of Notre Dame when they found out that we are pilgrims!
